The Future of Telemarketers

Geoffrey James wrote an article for BNET about Sales Jobs of the Future. He listed that these jobs might evolve in the future:

• Strategic Account Manager
• New Business Development
• Account Management
• Territory Consultative Product Sales
• Territory Relationship Product Sales
• Territory Relationship System Sales
• System Specialist
• Product/Service Specialist
• Product/Transactional Specialist
• Outbound Telesales
• Inbound Telesales
• Customer Service Representative

I was not surprised when telesales made the list. The telephone is still the best communication tool especially for lead generation. However, cold calling is not a walk in the park. There are many challenges being a telemarketer but that can be conquered. Telemarketing or Tele-selling is here for the long run, so practice, learn and master your sales skills and be part of the future of your company’s sales team.
